Brownsville Trip

Caitlin and i went to Brownsville at the end of February.  David was able to drop us off and it was so nice to spend some family time for a few more minutes before our long weekend at Grampa's house.  I almost changed my mind at the airport since we were ready to go into the airport at the security checkpoint and Caitlin gave her Daddy a kiss and then she wanted to go back for another.  When we were walking away she kept saying, "daddy, daddy!!" in this really sad voice.  I didn't think i could handle her being upset so I almost changed my mind.  I quickly thought, McDonalds. She'll want some food and that will distract her from Daddy. Sure enough it worked. Yiippppee!!!  We got some McDonald and started to the gate.  She then made a friend with a little boy named Ian.  They were going to the Valley aswell and they both enjoyed looking at the planes before we boarded.  Once on the plane Caitlin seemed really comfortable so I wasn't too worried but this time she didn't want to sit on her own seat she wanted to sit on my lap.  I'll take those moments anytime so complied with her request.  The flight was really smooth and she enjoyed looking out the window a couple of times.  Once we arrived in Harlingen, she said, "Uoh, Oh" when we landed.  It was the cutest thing.  We were able to get our bags and she wasn't shy with Grampa.  He was so happy to see her he sat in the back sit to visit with her on the way to his house.  In Brownsville, we got to visit with Nena, Gaby, Enrique, Lily, Zariah, Layla, Cuqui, Fernando, Lissette, Stephen and Sonia.  Thursday we went to my sister's work to visit and Caitlin, of course, got all the attention.  She was even able to take home a little stuffed dog that my sister had at her desk that she just loved.

Caitlin got to play with Gaby's cat which she really enjoyed.  She colored with Zariah and Layla for the afternoon and shared some cookies and some special juice that made her very hyper.  We won't be having anymore of that juice...thanks Tia Nena. :)

Caitlin had lunch with the "girls" on Friday.  We got to have dinner with my sister and her family Friday night at Texas Road House.  Saturday, Layla and Zariah came to play for a little while in the afternoon.  Tio Enrique and Tia Nena gave Cailtin a very special bear from Build-A-Bear with a heart that you can hear and feel.  She loved it!  Thank you so much for all the love you give Caitlin.  Though she doesn't see you all very much I know that she loves spending time with the family and enjoys it.  I don't remember when but she also got to go to the mall and the park.  It seems like we did alot in such a small amount of time.

Regardless, of all we did she missed her Daddy.  I'll tell you why, when my Dad dropped us off at the airport she was really well behaved and was ready to go.  When we landed in San Antonio, I told her were were going to go look for Daddy and as soon as she got off the plane and started walking in the airport she started shouting, "Daddy!!, Daddy!!".  At times she would run to go further to finding him.  As we approaching the Security check point David was waiting there and when she saq him, she dropped her doggy that she was caring a ran to hug her Daddy.  She did stall a little when she realized that she had dropped her doggy quickly picked him up and ran to Daddy.  I hope i never forget the way she makes me feel right now.  She is my little treasured peanut!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!! Caitlin had a party at her school and it was lots of fun! The kids ate Chic-fil-a, pizza and apple sause. After all the running around and eating they took their naps and I went back to work but it was a great time!! Caitlin seemed to enjoy herself. David and I took Caitlin to dinner on Friday for Valentine's day to eat Japanese food and she seemed to enjoy that. She seemed to really like the food and she was so adorable that the waiter gave her a balloon when we left. Now, she didn't behave the whole time but she wasn't too bad either. Not the quiet dates we used to have but I wouldn't change it for the world!!

Caitlin continues to surprise me. Tonight she put on her own shoes on her own and they were on the correct sides. I didn't really think she would do it even though the teachers had been telling me that she had. She is growing so fast and I wish I could be with her all the time so I wouldn't miss a thing. She also sits at the table with us without her highchair and eats her food on her own. Once in a while, she'll want to sit with us still but she seems to be more independent. I think she misses us too since she looks for her Daddy all the time now. This morning she would call out to him to come to her but Daddy had already gone to work. Can't but hurt my heart but I know that she enjoys the time she spends with us. Lately, I'll ask her if she wants to go to school and she'll say "no" in her cute little voice but as soon as I ask her if she wants to play with Olivia and Brooke she'll say, "YEA".

Tonight when we spoke to my Dad I asked Caitlin if she would give grampa a kiss and she would say, "no". I'm sure that hurt my Dad's feeling but how do you control that? My Dad played it off and said, "wait 'til i see you little girl" in spanish. Caitlin is in big trouble with her Grampa but I'm sure he'll soon forget when he sees her next time. At least I hope...

Ouwwie

Caitlin has been interacting with us so much more.  It seems to me that the 18 month mark turned an on switch with her.  This weekend she gave me so many kisses it was great!!  We would play and since she now says "peeze" when she want something or wants more of something, i have tricked her into giving me kisses when she wants to do something too.  For example, she was jumping so before she would jump she would give me a hug and a kiss and then jump.  It was a great game!!  She's been brushing her teeth really well too.  She actually tries to spit the toothpaste out but nothing comes out because she eats it first.  She has also done much better with the potty training but hasn't actually done it yet.  Hopefully soon.  We purchased some big girl panties with elmo and minnie so we might try those out real soon.  I have received advise from several people that putting them in those will help the process alot more.  I just hope we don't have too many accidents...

Today was David's birthday, we didn't do all that we wanted but we had some quality time together as a family.  We got to go out to eat and do some shopping at the Culebra Market Place.  It was nice getting out.  I just wish that it was a little more exciting for David's birthday so it could be memorable.  Well, hopefully next year I'll plan something better. Happy Birthday Honey!!
